First off if you're familiar with Delicas you will know they're not winning any speed competitions but where they lack on the pavement they shine on the dirt. Exterior has some wear, rust isn't bad at all and there are zero rusted through areas but I would get an undercoat spray to prevent any more. We got this van from Calgary CA and the person we got it tipped it on its side (hence the rebuilt title) and it broke the top Crystal lite window, that has been fixed but I went back and sealed it much better than that guy did. No leaks anywhere.
Engine is in this state: this summer I noticed a little bit of a rattle sound coming from the engine and it stalled on me which never happens so I took it home and parked it immediately. I thought it might be the turbo so I did a complete top end rebuild including new turbo CHRA, head gasket, water pump (new) timing belt and balance belt. I was in there so might as well get it all done at once. I fired it up and still have the sound along with a lack of power. I had the oil tested and it came back with traces of zinc and copper, most likely due to a spun rod bearing. I'm still not completely sure that's the case but that's the reason I'm selling him for so cheap. Might need a valve adjustment or a bottom end rebuild. I searched for the 4d56t engine and they can usually be bought with sub 50K miles from Japan for around the 1500-2000usd range.
I'm leaving this up to someone who can hopefully restore him to his former greatness, the van starts, idles, moves and drives but I wouldn't want to take it out more than it has to to prevent further harm.
